Korean Age Calculator

Korean & International Age Calculator Service

In Korea, not only the actual (international) age is used, but also two unique systems called "Korean age" and "year age." - Korean age: You start as 1 year old at birth and gain a year every January 1st. - Year age: Based on your birth year; you are 0 at birth and gain a year every New Year. These systems have been widely used in family, society, and schools, and were even official until recently. To reduce confusion with international standards, the Korean government under President Yoon Suk-yeol enacted a law in June 2023 to unify the legal standard to international age only. As a result, all official documents, administration, and law now use only international age. However, due to deep-rooted habits and traditions, Korean age and year age are still sometimes used in everyday life, leading to a transitional period of mixed usage. This calculator shows all these different age systems at once, helping foreigners who want to understand Korean culture, as well as anyone who is confused by the different standards.

How to Use

  1. Enter your birth date to automatically see your age.
  2. You will see your international, Korean, and year ages in the results.
